The power of stories to seduce, comfort and represent is as old as time itself. This has not diminished in the internet age. Fan culture invented 'slash': a genre of fan-ficiton pairing same-sex characters in romantic narratives, reworking the landscape of mainstream entertainment into a queerer shape. Online fandom is an explosion of creativity, dedication and feeling. Democratising the media, fans are building a monument to their OTPs - their favourite ships - that will endure beyond the season finale.
